Add the Knox Service Plugin for the Fully Managed & Work Profile

This article discusses setting up remote control for your Samsung Knox devices using Silverback.

For Samsung Knox Devices, remote control is only available via MDM solutions. For this reason, you need to configure FastViewer integration with Silverback.

 

Configure Settings in the Silverback Management Console

In the Definition tab, do the following: 

  1. Fill in the Name field.
  2. Optionally, fill in the Description field.
  3. For Enabled Features, check the boxes for Profile, Policy, and Apps.
  4. For Device Types, check the box for Samsung Knox.
  5. Click Save.

Device-wide policies (fully managed)

In the Profile tab, do the following: 

  1. Go to Profile > Knox Service Plugin.
  2. Under Edit Knox Service Plugin Settings, do the following:
    1. Enable Knox Service Plugin.
    2. Provide a name in the Profile name (version) field.
    3. Enable Debug Mode.
      1. Enable Device-wide policies (…).
      2. Check the box for Enable device policy controls.
      3. Enable Application management policies.
      4. Do the following:
        1. Check the box for Enable application management controls.
        2. Check the box for Enable Add applications for accessing the Knox SDK.
           
        3. Provide the following information:
          1. Package Name: You can find the package name in the Android Store address (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fastviewer). For FastViewer, it's com.fastviewer.
  3. Scope: Select Remote Control from the drop-down list.

Work Profile (Profile Owner)

In the Profile tab, do the following: 

  1. Go to Profile > Knox Service Plugin.
  2. Under Edit Knox Service Plugin Settings, do the following:
    1. Enable Knox Service Plugin.
    2. Provide a name in the Profile name (version) field.
    3. Enable Debug Mode.
      1. Enable Work profile policies (Profile Owner)
      2. Check the box for Enable work profile policies.
      3. Enable Application management policies (Premium), then:
        1. Check the box for Enable application management controls.
        2. Check the box for Enable Add applications for accessing the Knox SDK.
           
          Provide the following information:
          1. Package Name: You can find the package name in the Android Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fastviewer). For FastViewer, it's com.fastviewer.
          2. Scope: Select Remote Control from the drop-down list.
