Overview

The Personalization Panel is a comprehensive settings modal that allows users to configure application behavior and preferences. It provides a searchable, categorized interface for managing user personalization settings with support for multiple control types and hierarchical navigation using drilldowns.

You can see the panel by opening the User settings dropdown and clicking the Personalization item.

The Panel contains several existing personalization categories:

M42 Assist

• Customize auto-open mode, display mode (docked vs floating window), and assistant window size and position tracking

Theming

• Customize theme selection, enhanced contrast mode, and sync with the theme's built-in contrast mode

Navigation

• Provides the options to pin sidebar, auto-expand on hover toggle (disabled when pinned), and start with navigation collapsed

Lists & Grids

• Customize row density and number of rows per page for all grids
• Provides option to pin column search
• Personalized grids drilldown
• Personalized calendars drilldown
• Personalized agile boards drilldown

Filters

• Provides the option to pin the filter panel
• Personalized filters drilldown

Page Layout

• Provides the option to pin the notifications panel and resize content for side panels

Reporting

• Customize auto-switch interval
• Personalized reports drilldown (per-dashboard: show description toggle, hide refresh popover, widget count, auto-refresh interval, custom filters)

Guidance

• Provides an option to show/hide tips in the application

AI Response Preferences

• Customize how AI-generated content is presented

AI Action Preferences

• Customize how AI actions select and present results

Dialogs

• Personalized dialogs drilldown (default new/edit/preview dialogs per entity type, saved views/favorites)
• Customize attachment view mode (list vs tiles)

Service Desk

• Customize default workspace

Why Drilldown?

Drilldowns handle unbounded categories where the list grows dynamically:

• User customizes Grid A → appears in “Personalized Grids”
• User creates Dashboard B → appears in “Personalized Reports”
• User sets default dialog for Entity C → appears in “Personalized Dialogs”

Without drilldown, every customization would clutter the root settings list and become unsearchable

With drilldown:

• Main panel shows only category name + count badge
• User clicks to expand → loads cards for all customized items (paginated, 10 per page)
• Each card shows granular controls for that item's specific settings
• "Load more" appends additional pages
• Reset individual items or all at once 

How drilldown works - practical example (Personalized Grids):

Open any grid and switch the orders of any 2 columns. The main personalization panel will show 1 customized grid.

Click to drilldown on Personalized Grids. You will see a card containing the ID of the personalized grid and the personalization itself, with the option to reset it.

Each card is independent; you can reset one grid without affecting others.
